FIM MOVES INTO A NEW HOME
Welcome from our Board Chairman,
David R. Punzak

The Florida International Museum (FIM) is off to an exciting new year with our fall, 2005 move into a shared facility with the St. Petersburg College Downtown Center at 244 Second Avenue North. FIM closed its 100 Second Street North location in June, 2005, after a highly successful Diana – A Celebration exhibition. The museum's move into new space was a result of the City of St. Petersburg 's decision to sell the former Maas Brothers museum site to make way for the corporate headquarters of Progress Energy and the new Westin Grand Bohemian Hotel.

The SPC Board of Trustees approved the annex facility ( 244 Second Avenue) becoming a four-story building with SPC and FIM initially sharing the first floor. FIM's floor plan includes a store/box office, offices, library, vaults and storage with 8,500 square feet in gallery space. This move creates an opportunity for museum expansion and growth as other SPC floors are completed. And with more manageable space, FIM will now be able to focus its resources on exhibitions, rather than on complex overhead. At the same time the FIM Board of Directors has authorized a strategic planning session.

Please also join us in supporting our Membership Program – two memberships one – Smithsonian and FIM. And you might consider being part of the FIM Guild or a Volunteer, the life blood of this museum.

In 2006, FIM is excited to host Ink and Blood: Sacred Treasures of the Bible. As you view a collection of more than 100 rare artifacts, you will travel through 5000 years of Western Civilization and see the Bible's history come alive. Come visit our new home and tour this once in a lifetime historical exhibition.

We appreciate your support as we build for the future and continue to Bring the World to You!
